TO VIEW PHOTOS AND INFORMATION CONCERNING THE MAY 2, 2002 MCDOWELL COUNTY FLOOD VISIT http://mayflood2002.8k.com On July 8, 2001 a devestating flood swept across McDowell County in Southern West Virginia. Several homes and businesses were destroyed, but thankfully no one perished in the wrath of the storm. McDowell County is definitely building back and while it will take some time to fully recover, we will do it. Many thanks to all of those organizations that are currently assisting the County in any way, shape or form---without you recovery would not be possible for the Free State of McDowell.
